OUR COMMITMENTS

TO OUR PLAYERS

Safeguarding Statement

Working Together to Safeguard Children, March 2015 states that ‘Safeguarding children and protecting them from harm’ is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play.
The purpose of this policy:

  • To protect children, young people and vulnerable adults who are members of the Band

  • To provide staff and volunteers with the overarching principles that guide our approach to child protection.

Cold Ash brass believes that a child, young person or vulnerable adult should never experience abuse of any kind. We have a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children and young people and to keep them safe. We are committed to practice in a way that protects them.
The full safeguarding policy and other documents can be found on the Band’s website

Data Protection Statement

Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679 gives a lawful basis for processing data where:
“processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller or by a third party except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require protection of personal data, in particular where the data subject is a child.”

Cold Ash Brass records and holds the contact details of its players and deputies, their parents (if under the age of 18) and emergency contact details only to be used when necessary. These contact details are held securely in a password protected file, accessible only by the Secretary (acting as Data Protection Officer) and other members of the Committee as and when necessary.

  • We have conducted a legitimate interests assessment (LIA) and kept a record of it, to ensure that we can justify our decision.

  • We only use individuals’ data in ways they would reasonably expect, unless we have a very good reason.

  • If we process children’s data, we take extra care to make sure we protect their interests.

  • We keep our LIA under review, and repeat it if circumstances change.

Cold Ash Brass is committed to the privacy of its members and to their individual right to be forgotten. If you wish to view our LIA, check what details we hold, or wish for us to remove your data from our records then please contact the Secretary in the first instance.
