Musical Director Andy Belfield
After a fantastically enjoyable 6 months as Musical Director, Andy has taken the decision to step down from the role for family reasons. We wish Andy and Marcie all the very best as they embark on an exciting new chapter in their lives.
Andy’s musical career began at the tender age of 7 with the most southerly mainland Brass Band in the UK; St. Keverne. He began playing the Flugel within the Youth and Senior Band. This fantastic organisation won National Youth Finals, BBC Radio 2 Band of the Year and many local titles during Andy’s time with the band. The band also had the privilege of playing at events such as the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, the Nova Scotia International Tattoo and for Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican.
In 2008, Andy began his Undergraduate Studies in Music Performance at Birmingham Conservatoire, successfully graduating in 2012. He then spent two years back home in Cornwall, teaching, leading and conducting music for the local Music Service.
In 2014, Andy joined the Royal Air Force as a musician where he has just completed 9 years of fantastic, fulfilling service. Trips to Australia, New Zealand and Abu Dhabi, alongside performances at HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee “Party at the Palace”, HM King Charles III’s Coronation and many major sporting events are just a few of many career highlights.
Andy is currently working as a musician in the British Army and was delighted to be offered the role of Musical Director of Cold Ash Brass in November 2024.
